The European Commission is strengthening the national network of EDIHs with €19 million in funding granted for the next three years and 17 Step Seals. DIGIS3, of which DIHBU is a member, is one of the EDIHSs that has obtained financial support and a Step Seal.

The European Commission has reaffirmed its commitment to digitalization and technological innovation in Spain, allocating €19 million to 10 European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) for the period 2026-2028 and awarding the Step (Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform) Seal to 17 entities. This support not only endorses the quality and maturity of the national network of EDIHs, but also opens the door to strategic projects in advanced technologies, dual solutions, and artificial intelligence applications.
These results confirm the strength and relevance of the Spanish EDIH network within the European framework. In total, ten hubs have accessed direct funding for the next three years, with budgets ranging from €1.9 million to €5.9 million. Among those selected are: DIH4CAT, AIR-Andalusia, Aragón EDIH, AsDIH, CIDIHUB, DIGIS3, EDIH Madrid Region, i4CAMHUB, INFAB HUB, and InnDIH.
At the same time, 17 EDIHs have received the Step Seal, an official recognition from the European Commission that certifies the quality of their value proposition, their organizational strength, and their alignment with the EU’s strategic objectives for digital transformation. This distinction strengthens the hubs’ ability to attract additional funding, establish international partnerships, and lead initiatives in key fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, Industry 4.0, and the digitization of SMEs.
“This backing from the European Commission not only recognizes the excellence of Spanish EDIHs, but also strengthens our ability to bring artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to the business world, especially to SMEs and public institutions. We are facing a historic opportunity to consolidate a competitive, innovative digital ecosystem that is fully aligned with Europe’s strategic objectives,” according to statements by representatives of the national network.
