The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) aims to safeguard consumers and businesses buying or using products or software with a digital component. The Act would see inadequate security features become a thing of the past with the introduction of mandatory cybersecurity requirements for manufacturers and retailers of such products, with this protection extending throughout the product lifecycle.

The European Union has set the clock ticking on when the legislation will officially come into effect, signaling that companies will soon be required to comply with its new cybersecurity standards. The Act introduces a range of security requirements for all products sold on the European market that include digital elements. This spans connected devices (IoT), computing equipment, and networking hardware, but also extends to software, including operating systems, cybersecurity products, and cloud services.

Manufacturers and developers of these products will now need to demonstrate that they meet the Act’s stringent security requirements. To aid businesses in preparing for compliance, the Cyberstand project has launched an Industry Support Group. This initiative will provide companies with vital information on how to meet the CRA’s standards. The group will serve as a platform for discussion, allowing companies to voice concerns and provide feedback on resource gaps within the market. It will also collaborate with European Standardisation Development Organisations to explore how standards can help meet the new regulations.

Joining this group offers several benefits, including the opportunity to build credibility as an expert in the field, gain valuable insights into the CRA’s standardization processes, and actively contribute to shaping how the Act is implemented.

The group is seeking product managers, business development leaders, CISOs, CTOs, and other industry professionals. Through webinars, workshops, and meetings, members will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Act while sharing their expertise on conformity and risk assessments. This initiative represents an important step in preparing businesses for the new compliance landscape driven by the Cyber Resilience Act.ioning.
