Industrial digitalization with IO-Link and Moneo cloud solutions

IFM Electronic

Cataluña, Spain

Stand 33

3rd Floor Forum Evolution Burgos. October 15 and 16, 2025

Description

The demonstrator shows how to facilitate industrial digitization by collecting, integrating, and sending manufacturing process data to the cloud using IO-Link technology and the moneo Cloud IIoT platform.

The demo showcases key solutions:

  • IO-key – Connects up to two IO-Link devices and transmits data directly to moneo Cloud without the need for complex infrastructure. Example: temperature and humidity sensor, and IO-Link module for digital and analog signals.
  • EdgeGateway – Links plant devices to IoT systems using multiple protocols. In the demo, it connects an IO-Link master that receives data from a compressed air flow sensor.
  • ifm Bluetooth Mesh Solution – Enables wireless integration of IO-Link devices, reducing cabling and increasing flexibility.

Visitors will be able to see in real time how these technologies transform field data into useful information in the cloud, advancing toward Industry 4.0.

IFM Electronic Spain is a company specializing in industrial automation technology. It is dedicated to the sale, technical advice, and support of sensors, controllers, software, and integrated systems to optimize industrial processes and support digitization with IIoT solutions and smart manufacturing.

Innovative aspects

  • IO-Key as a wireless IoT gateway – Allows data from all connected IO-Link sensors to be uploaded to the cloud.
  • Integration of multiple IO-Link sensors – Connection of compressed air flow meter and laser distance sensor via an I/O slave.
  • Real-time digitization with IO-Link – Facilitates the sending and monitoring of information from the plant to cloud systems.

Pilot Deployments

Pilot implementations of IO-Key technology have been carried out in various industrial sectors. In a plant in the automotive sector, 11 devices were installed to digitize 16 water consumption points, allowing the quality manager to have real-time information, detect anomalies and eliminate the need for manual readings.

An IO-Key with moneoCloud connection was installed in the cement sector to monitor the level of a water tank located in a remote area of the plant, facilitating management without the need for travel.
