Regional Innovation Valleys – Call for Expression of Interest to regional authorities
The Regional Innovation Valleys (RIVs) Instrument aim to create connected regional innovation valleys across the European Union (EU), involving regions with lower innovation performances, by building on strategic areas of regional strength and specialisation (defined in their smart specialisation strategies), in support of key EU priorities.
The European Committee of the Regions launched a call for expression of interest inviting European regions to become regional innovation valleys, open until 18 September 2023. The call for expression of interest is open only to regional authorities.
Companies, universities, innovation hubs, technological park, etc. are encouraged to signal their interest to the relevant regional authorities.
This initiative builds on over 180 national and regional Smart Specialisation Strategies and, where applicable, on the participation in the pilot action Partnerships for Regional Innovation (PRIs).
