COSMIC Open Call 1: AI and data analysis for ecological transition
The COSMIC Open Call 1 offers cascading direct grants to 20 individual projects of SMEs that propose to develop, based on an Initial Concept Test, Innovative digital solutions using Artificial Intelligence and data analytics to address energy optimization challenges. Projects should reach a TRL between 6 and 7 at the end of their implementation.

- Development SMEs (including startups)
- Entities assimilated to SMEs, non-profit
Challenges to solve
The call focuses on the challenges of optimizing energy resources, including but not limited to:
- Carbon footprint integration: combining energy and waste data for environmental information
- Community engagement and reporting: provision of customized analysis and benchmarking for end-users and community managers
- Optimising the adoption of smart appliances and smart meters: encouraging consumer research on AI in energy efficiency
- Waste sorting assistance: using artificial vision to streamline waste sorting
Aid offered
COSMIC will offer a lump sum for each selected project, covering up to 70% of the project budget (up to €150,000). Non-profit legal entities may be eligible to receive up to 100% of the funding.
