Abstract
Industry 5.0 proposes an industrial evolution where innovation is driven by sustainability, resilience, and the centrality of human beings. One of the key challenges to making this a reality is the effective integration of operational technologies (OT), such as collaborative robots, and information technologies (IT), which are responsible for data analysis, artificial intelligence, and business systems.
This presentation introduces the European ARISE project, which proposes a solution based on open-source middleware that enables this OT-IT convergence without compromising performance or people-centered principles. The architecture connects real-time robotic systems (based on ROS2) with FIWARE technologies, facilitating seamless interaction between robots, AI, and business management platforms.
In addition, ARISE adopts an open innovation approach geared towards SMEs, as it has an open call process to fund 26 experiments with a budget of €5.2 million, considering a strong ethical and social foundation to ensure effective collaboration between humans and robots throughout the application’s life cycle.
This presentation will show how this technology enables progress toward a truly human, sustainable, and connected industry, in line with the objectives of Industry 5.0.
